Gas On 02:37
It's a long way down. I could read a book, Or three, or ten. This is pure id. Oh shit, Someone left the gas on. Oh shit, Someone left the gas on. Did I tell you I built this business on money I saved from tips. And that agent with the glasses got too many buttons on his suit. He's acting stubborn. Oh shit, Someone left the gas on. Oh shit, Someone left the gas on.

If I could only make it through another winter, I could dig a hundred holes in your backyard. Maybe someone buried something there A hundred years ago. Another day, or week, or month Just won't be enough. But if I could only make it through another winter, You could introduce me to your native friends. Woodland phlox and columbines, Foam flower and Virginia bluebells. Another day, or week, or month Just won't be enough. But if I could only make it through another winter, I might finally learn to treat you as I should. Things might not be as fucked up As they have been for the past five years. Another day, or week, or month Just won't be enough. And I don't mind if I lace my boots up Tight enough to break my toes. Anything to help forget it's over. And I might not make it through another winter. Might not even last until the pipes explode. Winter.

Annie's gonna be saved. She's gonna speak in tongues. She's got holy water Filling up her lungs. She's riding a bull. She ain't leaving crumbs. So get out of the way, 'Cause Annie's gonna be saved. This is your brain. This is your brain on jazz. It's hidden away In government labs. Mud in your hair, And egg on your abs. All that you need Is more than I have. Annie's gonna be saved. She's gonna speak in tongues. She's got holy water Filling up her lungs. She's riding a bull. She ain't leaving crumbs. So get out of the way, 'Cause Annie's gonna be saved. 'Said that ain't no way Of fulfilling a wish. Just pointing a gun At a barrel of fish. Ain't that just a way Of avoiding the risk. 'Said you bet your ass I'm avoiding it. Annie's gonna be saved.

If the bad feeling Ain't bad enough To make you beak the bad habit, Neither can be too bad. It'd be a good idea to love you, But a bad one for you to love me. Saying "have a nice day" Don't qualify as intimacy. I'm not going back to therapy. I'm not gonna look for a job. You can spend some time kissing princes. I'll spend all of mine licking frogs. And there might be a big old monster Hidden in the gloom. Or it might just be my daddy Hanging out in the next room Sometimes we get ourselves straight. Sometimes we reach the sea. All I ask is that you think twice Before you call the cops on me. Now I'm sad because I'm lonely. I'm lonely 'cause you're gone. You're gone because I'm crazy. Now it won't be long.

Round and round and round again, They're fighting in the street. Pound for pound and hand to hand, I'll take one more defeat. I cross picket lines for entertainment. They can take my spleen in lieu of payment. I cannot figure where the days went. When some, lose some, no, I lose them all. Like your alma mater Who will never break the streak. Like an illegitimate daughter Who'll always be a freak. Like an over budget and top secret Failed experiment, you scramble To dispose of the equipment. Win some, lose some, no, I lose them all. Now it's a thousand coins into a thousand fountains. But all I see are great plains and big mountains. I lose them all.

Mockingbird 03:01
You thought you'd laid me in the ground, But here I'm back around. Can't help it. And I'm tired of all the sound. Can't make out what you're trying to say. Wish the mockingbird would fly away. And I can read it in your face. We're running out of public places To cry in. So let me fall behind the pace. I'll get out of be another day. Wish the mockingbird would fly away. And I'm tired of skipping town. And dumping everything we have Into a lost and found. And I'm tired of all the sound. Can't make out what you're trying to say. Wish the mockingbird would fly away.

So Much Hate 03:38
Everyday you wake up and your face is a mess. The swelling gets worse as your color gets less. You can no longer tell the difference between failure and success. You slide into the same old booth and roll up your cuffs. Your intestines turn to mush but you still gotta look tough. They promised you the stars, but that will never be enough. So much hate makes my body ache. I swear I'm gonna bleed out before I break. Muscles twitch, and fingers shake. So much hate makes my body ache. So much hate makes my body ache. One bite is all it took. Ate the bait right off the hook. Vacated wins and a postseason ban. To get into your room you gotta get a retinal scan. The people that you used to know won't even shake your hand. You try hard not to care, and sometimes you succeed. You think they might not pay attention if you bury the lead. You spend two or three lonely last weeks at Walter Reed. So much hate makes my body ache. I swear I'm gonna bleed out before I break. Muscles twitch, and fingers shake. So much hate makes my body ache. So much hate makes my body ache.

Eddie, how'd you get my number? I didn't think you'd call. Was it scribbled on a napkin? Or scrawled across a stall? You left me where the pages end, Curled into a ball. 'Thought the satellite was out of range. Your shadows ten feet tall. It's ten feet tall. Too many secrets. Too many wall. My love is captured on a foreign server Until the empire falls. It falls; it falls.

We will accept your family as is. We got a witches broom in the living room. You can loosen the laces and kick off the braces. Place your belongings neatly in the bin. If a million peeps give you the creeps, We are people of action. We get a reaction. Locking fingers, waiting for the day We visit the dead and tell them all's gonna be okay. Mom and Dad still love to rock and roll. Reincarnated northern soul, Unlimited choices when you're guided by voices. We will accept your family as is, A coffin full of coal.

Everybody gets a trophy, A gift for every kid who plays, A thanks for your participation. You wait for it for days and days and days. You're going to get your licks in, Grin through a morphine haze. You'll mature into a master craftsman, But every day will cost more than it pays. They give you food and a bed to sleep in. You change your clothes every week or two. You strike a match when you leave their bathroom. Breathe in, breathe out is all that you can do. Resigned to be a stand-in, Forever waiting for a cue, And every-even-day American, The odd days all your dreams fade out of view. Everybody gets a trophy. Everybody gets a hand But you.

Just one more vacation. Another chance with you. Could have it if I want it. Power down the blue. Could use some adulation. A friendly word or two. Could have it if I want it. Power down the blue. Just 'cause we're in the same room, it don't mean you're my peer. My family don't even know I'm here. I miss my wife, my kids, my car, my beer. Slow tomorrow. No more sorrow.

I like my nooses strong, And my coffee week. I like to take you to the opera And fall asleep. Don't wake me when the lights come up. Don't shake me anxiously. I'm taking what they give me. I like wild turkey, baby. I gotta get to Oakland. I gotta pass a screen. Replace some low grade fever With high grade gasoline. Scream across Nevada, Top one hundred comfortably. I'm taking what they give me. I like wild turkey, baby. I like to watch the stove. I like to keep it hot. Sometime it's slow. Sometime it's not. I try not to think too much. 'Don't laugh a lot. Gonna spend a decade in this house And watch it rot. Years upon years, still you stand there So heroically. I'm taking what they give me. I like wild turkey, baby.
